FAQ

What is a hardware wallet?

Hardware Wallets are cold storage devices which generate and store your private keys within the device, keeping your money offline as a means of reducing internet-based threats. Hardware Wallets are the most secure in the market today.

What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is the first decentralized peer-to-peer payment network that is powered by its users with no central authority or middlemen. From a user perspective, Bitcoin is pretty much like cash for the Internet.

Is Bitcoin really used by people?

Yes. There are a growing number of businesses and individuals using Bitcoin. This includes brick-and-mortar businesses like restaurants, real estate, pubs, electronics and law firms, as well as popular online services such as Namecheap, Overstock.com and Reddit. While Bitcoin remains a relatively new phenomenon, it is growing fast. At the end of April 2017, the total value of all existing bitcoins exceeded 20 billion US dollars, with millions of dollars worth of bitcoins exchanged daily.

Why use a hardware wallet?

1. The most secure. Hold your Bitcoins and cryptos on a hardware wallet, they are designed to be unhackable. If you don't hold it, you don't own it. With a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet, you actually hold your Bitcoin.

2. Second most secure. On an App on your phone. Like desktop computers phones can also be hacked or stolen.
3. Medium level security. Paper wallets can prove to be a high learning curve, also the possibility of losing or damaging paper wallets means you lose your bitcoins.
4. Least secure. Never leave your Bitcoins/cryptos on an exchange after you have purchased them. Exchanges are prone to hacking. Also crediting you the forked coins is at the discretion of the exchange. Some exchanges have proven to be scams.

What can I do if my hardware wallet is damaged or lost?

Your funds are not lost as long as you have your 12 or 24 word private key. Simply buy a new hardware wallet, enter the private keys to re-establish your wallet.

Never ever disclose your 12 - 24 Word Private Keys to anyone.
